Companies that wish to conduct a feasibility study for the Singapore leg of the High Speed Rail (HSR) link may now submit their tenders, announced the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and reported in the media.
According to the agency, the study aims to develop options for the HSR link. Specifically, it will look into the connectivity of three possible sites for the terminal (Tuas West, Jurong East and the city centre), and provide a technical assessment of each corridor.
The study is expected to be completed in Q1 2015, but the appointed consultant also needs to evaluate the HSR link’s effect on existing transportation facilities.
The Singapore-Kuala Lumpur HSR link was announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Malaysian counterpart at the Leaders’ Retreat in February 2013.
The project’s objective is to reduce travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes as well as foster closer ties between both countries.
